Notre Dame football is just 95 days away from kicking off, with the Fighting Irish set to face the Miami Hurricanes in South Florida. They’ll be aiming to notch their first road win over the Hurricanes since December 3, 1977, when they dominated 48-10 on their way to a national title.

With that highly anticipated game drawing closer, why not take a quick look back?

It was 2010, and Brian Kelly had just taken over as head coach at Notre Dame. With the Irish trailing Michigan 21-17 and just four minutes remaining, quarterback Dane Crist connected with Kyle Rudolph on a near full-field touchdown to give Notre Dame a late lead. You can relive that moment below.

It was one of the loudest reactions I’ve ever witnessed at Notre Dame Stadium—even though the joy was short-lived, as the defense couldn’t stop Denard Robinson and the Irish eventually fell.

Here’s hoping this September’s opener against Miami brings similar fireworks—minus the gut-wrenching ending.
